Note: Had a few strokes in Aug 2009. Spent time at the Gardner Hospital and his final days at the Legend Rehab & Nursing Center, 59 Eastwood Circle, Gardner, MA. From the Worcester Telegram & Gazette on December 1, 2009 George Leonard Ainsleigh, 81, of Ashburnham, formerly of Northborough, died Saturday morning, November 28, 2009 after an illness. George was born in Walpole, MA, September 25, 1928, son of the late Charles and Louise M. (Carter) Ainsleigh. He grew up in Hudson, MA, and graduated from Hudson High School in 1946. He lived in Northborough from 1955-1987, before moving to Ashburnham. For many years George was the caretaker for the Vera and Albert Green Estate. He also worked for Northborough Public Schools, and prior to his retirement in 1990, he was employed with Digital Equipment Corp. After his retirement he worked part time for the Ashburnham Marketplace. George was active in Boy Scouts for many years. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Northborough. He served many years on the Ashburnham Municipal Light Board as Chairman, and was also an Ashburnham town Constable. Growing up, George was an active member of Hudson Unitarian Church. While he resided in Northborough he was very active in the Trinity Church of Northborough, and during his time in Ashburnham, he was the former Chairman of the Board of the Ashburnham Community Church, as well as taking care of the property. George is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia T. (Johnson) Ainsleigh of Ashburnham; one son, Michael G. Ainsleigh of Holden, MA; 4 daughters, Sherry L. Mowatt of Westborough, MA, Catherine Mauro of Grayson, GA, Dr. Susan Ainsleigh of Westborough, and Ellyn Ainsleigh of Westborough, MA; one sister, Edith Ainsleigh; 8 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Charles, Richard, and Jack Ainsleigh. You are invited to attend his memorial service in the Ashburnham Community Church, 9 Chapel St., Ashburnham, MA on Friday December 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Russell Grant will officiate. A calling hour in the church will be from 9:30 a.m until the start of the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory be made to the Ashburnham Community Church, 9 Chapel St., P.O. Box 929, Ashburnham, MA 01430.
