Note: From Alice Canham (Cunningham's) notes: Source Alice B. Libby (Cunningham) Grampa Bridges came to this country from Ireland. Came to Surry, ME and built his home on Chaine Lake. Pulled the lumber from East Orland to him homesite on a raft. He built his home at the top of the hill, carrying all the lumber for about 1/2 mile uphill. Cleared the land. freed it of rocks, formed rock walls. It was a good farm and large when it was given given to Dad at Grandfather's death. Grandfather & Grandmother Bridges died within a week of each other. They contracted Erysipelas (sp) and couldn't survive. Mother and Dad lived with them and Gramma Cunningham. Mother cared for them until they passed away. Arthur was 3 years old. Hazel was one year old. If assumed the above was spoken by Alice B. Libby and I fill in Grampa, Mother, Dad, etc. accordingly it should read like this. (Allen Mowatt) Alfred J. Bridges came to this country from Ireland.
