  1 November 1856 - Thomas Dixon declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States. The declaration was made in Green County, Decatur twp, Wisconsin (Monroe area). I have a copy of the document (original is held by Ellen Foley) with seal and signed by the county clerk a Mr. Richardson. There is a place for his signature, and has "his mark" written in, with an "x". Over the "x" they wrote in his name. Anthony O'Donnell was a witness.
  22 May 1877 - Thomas Dixon is made a citizen of the Unites States of America. The action took place in the State of Wisconsin, county of St. Croix, Circuit Court, Eight Judicial Circuit (New Richmond area) . I have a copy of the document (original is held by Ellen Foley) with seal and signed by Clerk L. L. Star.
  10 January 1885 - Thomas Dixon is granted ownership though Homestead to 80 acres. Homestead Certificate No. 6761 and Application 11134, I have a copy of the (Ellen Foley has the original). The 80 acres is described as follows: North half of the north west quarter of section fourteen in township one hundred and five north of range forty six west of the fifth Principal Meridian in Minnesota containing 80 acres.
  The following is the 28 April 1893 Pipestone Co. Star Death Notice for Thomas "Tommy" Dixon.
  "Tommy Dixon, of Eden Township, died at his home last evening about six o'clock. Mr. Dixon has been sick for the past six months with stomach trouble and it was this which caused his death. He leaves a wife and ten children, five sons and five daughters, to mourn his death, all of whom except three children reside in this county. He was 57 years of age and has been a resident of Pipestone County for a number of years. Funeral services will be held in the Catholic Church in this city on Monday, Rev. F. P. Kervick, officiating, after which the remains will be taken to Woodstock for burial." Note - Thomas is buried in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery.
  All the children were born in Wisconsin, so would have lived there in 1859 or earlier.
 1860 Census verifies this family lived in Green county, Decatur twp, Wisconsin. Ellen Conway, Catherines mother who was blind, lived with them. (60 Yrs old). None of them could read or write. Thomas's occupation was a Laborer.
  Its possible Thomas served in the Civil war from Wisconsin. There are several Thomas Dixons on the Wisc. Roster.[FrankCarney.FTW]
  1870 Census lists Thomas Dixon and family in Wisconsin, as Dickerson, looks like Dickenson. Neither Kate nor Thomas could read or write. Occupation was farmer. All children born in Wisconsin.
  1880 Census lists Thomas and Catherine living in Eden Twp, Pipestone county, as a farmer. Children living with them were: Ellen, John, Darby, Kate, Anthony, Mary, Julia, Martin and Ann.
