Note: Carl (Charles) was named Karl Axel Svensson in Sweden but they changed it to the same as his fathers last name upon entry to the USA because he was not of age (He was 11). He could not speak English and went to work for an English family- they had a hired man named Charlie so they called Karl "little Charlie" He kept Charles the rest of his life. Charlie married Alma Freed in 1913. Alma was only 16 yrs old, Charlie was 34.
