Notes
a. Note:   From the memory of Helen Graham Dixon:
Tom and his sister Mary Ann moved to Salix, Iowa, then to Hinton where they owned a Saloon and the town Hotel and Livery barn on Floyd Ave. (Hwy 75). Tom met Maggie Sweeney (a neighbor on what is now known as the LaBahn farm). They got married in the Catholic church in Merrill, Iowa and traveled there by horse and buggy accompanied by Isodore Sweeney, who was to be her beloved Maggie's attendant along with Ed Donovan. They went by train to North Dakota for their Honeymoon.
They lost their first child, a boy, then had George in 1905 while they were living in the Hotel. After 2 or 3 years they moved into a house just west of the new brick schoolhouse. Helen was born there in 1909.A year and a half later they bought a fairly new house west of the Methodist Church (2 houses west).
The hotel work had gotten too hard for Mary Ann (Auntie) and they rented the Hotel out to Mrs. Weinrich. Tom took over the Saloon and ran it till prohibition. Auntie still made her home with them. She helped Maggie with the baby (Helen) and George. Maggie had severe headaches and would be sick for days so Auntie was badly needed. Maggie died in 1912 reportedly of cerebral hemmorhage.
