It moved a couple of times but only a few doors down each time. Woodbury County Courhouse- L Alfred Larson 1st papers- Declaration of intent 15 Mar 1889. Has his actual signature. 2nd papers- 29 Oct 1892 He immigrated Apr 21 1885 from Sweden. Had a son Larson Axel Dewey 16 Mar 1898 and a daughter Mrs Arthur Olson (Alfhild), all of Sioux City. Last but not least I went to this History Center that we have in town that is connected to the Museum. We found pictures of the grocery store when it was at 1111-1113 4th street. That building is in the "historic" part of town and not only still stands but that is currently the home of the 4th Street Brewing Co. The picture we found has a painted advertisement on the side of the building for" Larson and Anderson Grocery and Meat Market" that can be read very well . I found a picture of the building at 1203 4th also but there was a pharmacy there at the time. Obituary from Sioux City Journal May 14, 1945: L.A. Larson, Grocer, Dies Was in business here 50 years in same building L. Alfred Larson, 79, 1123 23d street, a grocer for 55 years, died Sunday evening at his home after a short illness. Born February 20, 1866, in Sweden, he came to Sioux City at the age of 18 (1884). He was a partner of Larson & Anderson grocery store and for 50 years had been in business in the same building ay 1107 Fourth street. He was a member of the First Covenant Church. Survivors are the widow, Hilma; a son, Dewey, and a daughter, Mrs Arthur Olson, all of Sioux City. The body was taken to the Anderson funeral home. 1900 Census shows Alfred, Hilma, Alfhild and Dewey living at 1123 23rd st, with 2 other Swedish single women as boarders. 1910 Census shows just the family there, same address. 1914 Sioux City directory shows the following: Larson L Alfred (Helma C) (Larson & Anderson), r 1123 23d. 1920 Census shows L. Alfred, Hilma C., Alfhild and Axel, in Woodbury Cty, precinct 9. Alfred was a grocery merchant, Alfhild a bookeeper, Axel a clerk.
