a. Note:   Born in Wigan, England in 1876. Baptized in the Catholic faith. Came to New York City by boat from England about 1891-97, then to Minnesota by covered wagon as a young girl with her parents and homesteaded on the same section now occupied by the village of Holland, Minnesota. Her parents eventually settled in Wisconsin, according to an obituary in 1937. In 1894 she married Anthony Dixon and resided on a farm somewhere near Ihlen, Minnesota until the fall of 1911. From there they moved to a farm a few miles southwest of Slayton, Minnesota. In 1916, they moved to Avoca, Minnesota for a short time and Iona, Minnesota until 1923, and then to Hinton, Iowa. Buried in St. Columba Catholic cemetery.
