a. Note:   tal, after illness of several years and following by only a few weeks the death of his wife. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brown made their home for awhile this year with Lester and family.
  Mr. Brown was born near Valley Falls and his life was largely spent in that community as a farmer.
  The funeral service was held Wednesday at the Christian church in Valley Falls and burial in the Valley Falls cemetery.
 He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Coons, Niles, Mich., and Mrs. Etha Palmer, Oskaloosa; five sons, Lester Brown, Oskaloosa, Russell and Joe Brown, Valley Falls; Millard and Walter Brown, Nortonville; and three sisters, Mrs. Stella Pierce, and Mrs. Grace Springer, both of Ohio, and Mrs. Mike Hildman, Mayetta.
  Attending the funeral of Mr. Brown from Oskaloosa were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. E. McCoy, Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts, W.A. Payne, Vernon Hundley.
