Note: Lives at Greensboro. BROWNS SUMMIT - Grady M. Swaney, 81, passed away Saturday Morning April 10, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held at Wednesday April 14, at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel. Interment will follow at Brown's Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
A Guilford County native, Grady was born December 14, 1928 the son of the late Bonnie Arthur Swaney and the late Mishie Hall Swaney. As long as his health permitted he attended Martin Avenue Baptist Church. He retired from Cone Mills, White Oak Plant with over 30 years service and also from Trader's Chevrolet.
In addition to his parents Grady was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Jim, Charles and Bill Swaney.
Grady is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth May Swaney of the home; 6 children, Diane Swaney Skinner (Nathan) of McLeansville, Richard N. "Buddy" Swaney and fiancee Renee Sharpe of Liberty, Vickie Swaney Lovelace (Bobby) of Thurmond, Terry Swaney of Greensboro, Steve Swaney of McLeansville, and Michael Swaney of Thurmond; his sister, Mary Swaney Cauthren of Burlington and brother Shelton Swaney (Edith) of Browns Summit; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
