Other households have “negroes” listed, but Thomas does not at this date. John Moore is on the same list, but no other Moores. Henry Litle, Thomas’ brother is here., too. So is his father-in-law, Thomas King. 1779 Tax List, Randolph County, NC Thomas Little, with 300 acres, 50 improved, 5 slaves, 7 horses, 25 cattle, 125 pounds money on hand, 4411 pounds total value. 1785 Tax list, Randolph County, NC Thomas Lytle appears with 1 white poll and 2 black polls. He likely has more slaves at this time, but “polls” usually apply to adults, and “white polls” to adult males who could vote. Thomas' will was witnessed by Joseph Smith, Thomas Alexander, & Peter Dicks. Executors were William Bell, John Beard, & Samuel Millikan. 13 Dec 1793, Last Will & Testament of Thomas Lytle presented in open court by Peter Dicks and Joseph Smith. Randolph Co.
