  From minutes of Bethany Baptist Church: 6/27/1829, Wm Chiles and Tabitha Chiles, his wife, accepted into church.
  Died, at his residence in Abbeville District, on the 4th of November, William Chiles, in the 70th year of his age a member of the Baptist church for 20 years served the Church at Bethany as Deacon and Clerk, and at the constitution of the Horeb Church, he removed his membership....married to his second wife, whom he has left behind with five small children (three of them daughters).
