Will - Hampshire Record Office - Reference 1857A/064 - "This is the last will and testament of me James Knight of Harmsworth in the county of Hants Woodman First I give to my wife my copyhold(?) tennant(?) and garden held of that manor commonly called the Newent(?) as now occupied by James Giles I now(?) to my wife absolutely subject to the payment of five pounds to be paid to Mr Unwin towards my debt of fifteen pounds due to him - I give my dwelling house with the use of the Brewry(?) and the piece of garden ground attached there to unto my son James Knight (who now occupies the same) his was or is assign and situated in Wield and held of that manor and I give the other tennant(?) and garden with the use of the Brewry(?) unto my son Thomas Knight (who now occupies the same) his sons(?) and assigns for ever and I give the Brewhouse attached to the last mentioned houses unto and equally between my two sons Thomas and James their sons(?) and assigns as tennants(?)-in-common and here by declare that the before mentioned bequests to my sons Thomas and James are made subject to their paying in equal shares my debts and funeral expenses and all the residue of my real and personal estate including my morriheld(?) garkiam(?) I give equally between my two sons but subject to the payment of my Debts witness my hand this third day of December 1856 and I appoint my son Thomas Knight executor of this my will. Signed and declared by the above named James Knight in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence and that of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses here to. Samuel Brown Wield Youman George Powell Clerk to Messrs. Dunn & Co Solrs. Alresford"
"the 27th day of November 1857 On which day Thomas Knight the above named Executor was duly sworn to administer to: Owed(?) that the goods chattalsand credits of the said Testator James Knight deceased do not amount in value to the sum of twenty pounds as he believes. Testator died on or about 16th October 1857. Before me W. Brodge(?) Surrogate"
