a. Note:   urrently miss placed) and found that the father was listed as edward .we had expected the father to be john as both the marriage cert and the 1881 transcription showed. this sent us off looking for her else where but we were hampered by not knowing who hannah was. then i came across the birth entry for ellen's brother william which showed that his mother s name was hannah ruth booth. having searched her on freebmd this showed that she infact married john 's brother edward. edward was working in coventry during the 1871 census which explaines why she was listed as a vernon and married and why john was at home and single. edwards death was recorded under coventry in the june q of 1875 leaving the way clear for john and hannahs relationship although i dont think they ever married. Then to add more confusion hannah turns up with a thomas vernon and listed as wife in 1891 and widowed in 1901. this leaves the q on only one front who was the father of clara was it john or edward.
