******************** Became a major in the Salvation Army during which he served in Canada. I do vaguely remember now my mother has reminded me, shortly after his return that he came to visit. I embarrassed my mother when she asked what I wanted for tea. I replied bread and butter but without the butter. She said she did not know where to put her face. I remember that at the time I was sitting on the floor by a chair she said something or other and I moved behind it so I could not have been very old. This visit, I know, took place some time before 1969 (before I was 7yrs) as it took place in Shrublunds, Shirley.
