******************** I believe that the above is correct. George and Betty’s first son was named George. This would follow the usual practice, still used to day, of the first son being named after his dad or fathers father. the second son would then received the unused name or be named after his mothers father. It seems more than a coincidence that their second son is called 'William long' (my 4 x g father). If they were going to use long just as a second name then why is it that George was not given this as a second name as opposed to William. Why was it that it was only William who was, it seems, to receive any form of a second name. I think that they could have quite litery named him after both granddads!
of course if the above is correct it would mean that both georges and betty,s fathers were called william which would have possed a bit of a possible confict on naming their second son after one of their fathers. i think therefore that to honour both of them so that there could be no ill feeling instead of calling the 2nd son just william adams which could have been viewed as favoring georges dad the long was added to change it to william long adams the best possible solution for the coinstace of both fathers being called william.
Warminster is only 14.6 miles South by South East of box and the marriage is listed in the name of 'betty long' and George Adams
