Edward Allan, a weaver, was married to Susanna Burrell in Kendal 15 Oct. 1810.═ Susanna was born to Edward and Susanna Burrell 9 Sept. 1889, and bapt. in Kendal.═ Their children were Thomas 1811, Edward 1814, Richard 1816, Margaret 1819, Susannah 1821, and Henry abt. 1823 based on his burial.═══

In the Kendal bapt. records, Thomas and Margaret Allan had a daughter, Ann, b. 18 July 1795 and bapt. 1 Nov. 1796, and a son Richard, b. 11 Oct. 1798 but not bapt. until 15 May 1810.═ Ann's bapt. would indicate that he was born in Kendal though she may not have been.═ There was also a Margaret═born to Thomas, a wool comber, and Ann Allan who was bapt. on 10 July 1814.═ That was the same day that Edward and Susanna's son, Edward, was baptised.═

Other Allans in Kendal at the time were, Ann, Christian, Thomas, William, Eve, George, John, Jane, James, Mary, Betty, and Isabella.═ I have no idea how these others are related or if they are.

I found in the IGI a record of Edward═bapt. 1 Feb. 1789, son of Thomas and Margaret Allen , in Hawes, Yorkshire.═ That would make him about the same age as Susanna.═ Thomas Allen married Margaret Bell in Hawes, Yorkshire, 29 Nov. 1788.═ I have not yet been able to find a bapt. for Thomas, the wool comber, but there are several parrishes between Hawes and Kendal and time between Feb. 1789 and July 1795 for at least one other child.

The IGI also lists Edward and Mary Allan who had children, William, Thomas, Edward, John, William, Richard, William, Jane, and Mary, all in Long Marston, Yorkshire, between 1762 and 1775.═ Some of these names sound awfully familiar.

I know that this is guess work based on the Eng. naming system but it's the best I have to go on now and I continue to try to tie it all together.═ If you find any more info. please let me know and I'll do the same.═ Sorry I can't be more concrete at the moment but that's what I have right now.

I'm afraid I couldn't find a baptism for Edward Allen at Hawes in 1788.═ The nearest was the son of James Allen the Sandemanian preacher at Gayle who was born in 1769.═ However there are three marriages for Thomas Allens between 1788 and 1792 in Hawes Church. 29/11/1788 Thomas Allen of Hawes md. Margaret Bell of Appersett. 8/7/1789════ Thomas Allen of Darlington, Co. Durham md. Ann Metcalfe of Appersett. 18/3/1792══ Thomas Allen of Kendal, Westmorland md. Margaret Archer of Hawes. ═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════

Thomas of Hawes married Margaret Bell of Appersett in 1788.═ She had Edward about 4 months later.═ They moved to Durham Co. and she died.═ He returned to Hawes and married another Appersett lady, Ann Metcalfe, in 1889.═ After all he has a young son.═ Ann may have been a friend or═relative of Margaret.═ They move to Kendal and she dies.═ He returns to Hawes and marries Margaret Archer and they return to Kendal where the other children are born.═ I still have a Mary and a Thomas in Kendal that I can't account for.═ Maybe they are in Durham.
