  Around 1895 to 1900, Bertha May worked for a family named Stone at Cleone, Oregon, which is just east of Portland and now called Fairview. In early 1900 she moved to Idaho and on July 28, 1900, she married Marion Pomeroy Vanderpool. She named her first son, Cedric, after one of the Stone family boys that she liked.
