He had been a resident of Evanston for 50 years. Mr. Simpson came to America from Scotland when he was three years old. Fifty years ago he moved to Evanston and opened a butcher shop. He retired from business about ten years ago to take care of his extensive real estate ownings in the North Shore suburb. He is survived by seven children, Robert W., Charles, Mrs. W. E. Anderson, Mrs. Earle Leffingwell, Miss Charlotte of Evanston, Mrs. George Anderson of Lake Forest and Mrs. C. M. Puhlman of Wilmette. (Chicago Tribune, 24 June 1914) Robert Simpson, Jr, was a millionaire and left the bulk of his wealth to his two sons. His widow sued and won her daughters their fair share.
