Date and place of death from her Find-A-Grave memorial.
From her Find-A-Grave memorial: Born in Vandalia, Il to Oliva and Joseph Rodecker. She and her mother went to Texas where she taught history and biology. Her dad Joseph had left his wife and daughter when Mr. Duncan, Amanda's grandfather, threatened him with bodily harm if he returned to Vandalia. Joseph finally found his family in Texas. (Nancy Feibelman, jaynan@@stic.net, 2 Oct 2001)
The lady (a great granddaughter) who added the bio above for Ella Amanda Duncan-Rodecker is confused and will not respond to requests to correct her mistake. It should read: Born in Vandalia, Ill to William Duncan and Sophronia Huey. She and her daughter, Oliva Rodecker, went to Texas where Ella taught history and biology. Her husband, Joseph Rodecker, had left her and their daughter in Illinois when her father, William Duncan, threatened him with bodily harm if he returned to Vandalia. Joseph finally found his family in Texas.
One tree on Ancestry.com has a son for Ella and Joseph, J. P. Rodecker, born Jan 1880 and died 21 Sep 1880 in Vandalia, Fayette, Illinois and buried in the South Hill Cemetery in Vandalia - Find-A-Grave 71082039. but I cannot find anyother record and he does not appear in the 1 Jun 1880 census with Ella (but neither does their daughter, Olvia) and the 1900 census has 1 child born with 1 child living for Ella. It is possible Olvia was with her father, but cannot find a 1880 census for him.
