  Mrs. A. F. Hertig, who was born in West Chehalem district and who has spent her entire life in this section, passed away at the Portland Sanitarium Monday, April 23, at the age of 48 years and 2 months. Mrs. Hertig had been in poor health for some time prior to her death. She was the daughter of Francis M. Vanderpool, her mother being Nancy P. Shepard, before her marriage.   Rose Evelyn Vanderpool was born at West Chehalem in 1880 and died at Portland, Ore., Apr 23, 1928, at the age of 48 years and 2 months. The deceased was married to Adolph Hertig Dec. 25, 1896, and to this union six children were born, four of whom survive. These are Clara Louise, Gladys Vivian, Delmer Eugene, all of near Newberg, and Mrs. Edd Oberg of Portland. Two grandchildren, Glen and Grace Oberg of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Lodemia Welch of Astoria and Mrs. Elizabeth Burlingame of Vancouver; and four brothers, George, Charles, Henry and Marion Roy, all survive, besides the husband. Her long years of residence in this section won her a host of friends who will join with the relatives in sorrowing at her death. Mrs. Hertig was a member of the Rebekah and Pythian Sister lodges at Gaston. Funeral services are being held today,Thursday, from the Miller & Tracy Parlors in Portland and internment will follow at the Masonic cemetery in Portland.   Rose or Rosa? Dad always called her Aunt Rose, but her probate papers of her estate in McMinnville confirmed Rosa as correct. It was also shown as Rosa E. in the 1880 census, born Feb 1880. On her obituary it is Rose Evelyn.
