Notes
a. Note:   The young couple emigrated from Germany to escape the compusory military service. They arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where their son Charles was born. Phillip built both a carding mill for wool and a grist mill in Rush County, Indiana. He also brough a special dye from Germany that only he knew the formula. He was able to market this dye in nearby Cincinnati for a great profit, but the secret formula died with him. Most of the money was used to buy land. Jacob was killed by a falling tree, and was buried somewhere near his cabin.
