a. Note:   This man was a ship's captain and lived on the Chesapeke Bay somewhere in Maryland. The oral tradition is that his crew mutinied, killed him for a chest of gold, and buried him on an island somewhere in the West Indes. According to Mrs. Matilda Lowe Martin Parker, James was a ship's captain who was killed aboard ship during a mutiny in 1824.
