OLIVIA M. GAYLE
SUFFOLK – Olivia Myrick Gayle, 86, died Sunday, Feb. 18, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Gayle was a lifelong resident of Suffolk and a homemaker. She was a member of Oakland Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jane Hamm of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, Ernest Edward Gayle Sr. of Hampton, Robert Louis Gayle Sr. of Jacksonville and George Jackson Gayle of Suffolk; a sister, Edith Hurdle of Hampton; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the funeral home and at other times at the residence at 209 Magnolia St.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad.
