a. Note:   rom England. James was born in Mecklenburg Co. VA, and moved to the Fishing Creek area of Granville Co before 1800 and died in testate in 1837. His estate sale administered by son Isham brought in $1970.25 for farm equipment, household goods and two lots of books. Of his ten children, all moved to Tennessee except Isham who married Jane Adams Wood, Mary Helen who married William Rufus Hicks, Isaac and James who married Rebecca Crews.
