a. Note:   " Susan Carter, mother of B.D. Carter, A.H. Carter, and Mary Carter Roller, died Feb. 17th, 1906. She was about 75 years of age. Her husband, Allen Carter was called away from her by the hand of death during the civil war while her three children were quite small; she remaining a widow until her death. Notwithstanding she was alone during these perilous times, she managed her affairs well, raised her children creditably, and lived to see them all heads of families, and in easy circumstances"
