 The 18th Regiment Tennessee Infantry was organized for State service Jun 11, 1861, and transferred to the service of the Confederate States August 7, 1861. It was captured at Fort Donelson, Tenn. February 16, 1862, released at Vicksburg, Miss., September 20, 1862; re-organized September 26, 1862, and declared exchanged at Atkins Landing Nov 10, 1862. It was temporarily consolidated with the 26 Regiment Tennessee Infantry on October 8, 1863 but each company of the two organizations was mustered separately under its organization during the period covered during the consolidation.

 About April 9, 1865, the 2nd, 3d, 10th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 26th, 30th, ~~~, 37th and 45th Regiments and the 23d Battalion Tennessee Infantry were consolidated and formed the 4th Consolidated Regiment Tennessee Infantry, which was paroled at Greensboro, NC, May, 1865 [Confederate Soldiers Records]
