Dunn«/u»«/b» and his new bride were the other couple who traveled with James and Mary after they married on 12 Nov 1879. They became one of the pioneer families of Central City. John was born in Camanche on 22 May 1856 and Jennie Isabelle Robson was born in Ontario, Canada on 28 Apr 1859. John learned his farming skills on his father's farm in Camanche. Upon arrival in Linn County he and Jennie began life on a farm on property adjacent to that of his brother. They made their home on the place for fifteen years, after which the family moved to St. Clair County, Missouri, where they continued farming for ten years. The John Dunn family then returned to Jackson Township and purchased a farm of two hundred acres. John and Jennie had eight children and by the time their youngest daughter, Oral, was old enough, they moved to Central City where she could attend school. . The family attended the Central City Methodist Church. John died on 30 Dec 1934 and Jennie died on 8 Oct 1946. They are buried in Blodget Cemetery. Their children: «u»«b»Louis Alexander Dunn«/u»«/b»---born 13 Nov 1880 in Otter Creek Township. Louie attended Belmont public school and later farmed land near Melrose school. Florence Mann was born in Central City on 17 May 1891 and later taught in the Melrose School. Florence and Louis were married on 20 Mar 1912 in Central City. Their daughter Lois and son Malcolm were born on the family farm. They farmed until Louie retired in 1956 and then moved to Central City. Louie died 28m Jan 1959 and Florence died 19 Aug 1980. They are buried in Mt. Clark Cemetery. «u»«b»Susan V. Dunn«/u»«/b» was born in Alburnett on 19 Apr 1883. She married Fred Kennedy at Clinton, IA and they had a daughter, Lorraine Isabelle Kennedy. Her husband died in July 1934 and she moved to California in 1946. Susan married Harvey Hough in 1950. Harvey died in 1965 and Susan died 2 Sep 1973 in Los Angeles, CA. «u»«b»Alice V. Dunn«/u»«/b» was born 6 May 1886 in Jackson Township. She married Marion Nightingale and had three daughters and a son. Adeline Mae Dunn was born 28 Feb 1888 in Otter Creek Township. She and her husband, John Page, had two sons. «u»«b»Claude Ray Dunn«/u»«/b» was also born in Otter Creek Township, on 10 Aug 1890. He and his wife Isabelle lived in Downers Grove, IL, where he died on 28 Dec 1943. «u»«b»Ira Merle Dunn«/u»«/b» was born in Otter Creek Township on 3 Jun 1892. He married Amanda Crookshank (b. 3 Nov 1891 in Central City) on 2 Feb 1901 in Marion, IA. They had one daughter, Darleen Dunn. Ira served with the U. S. Army during World War I, and was a member of the Central City American Legion, Wapsie Post. Ira Dunn died in Cedar Rapids on 16 Jun 1978 and Amanda passed away in Cedar Rapids on 21 Apr 1994. They are buried at Mt. Clark Cemetery. «u»«b»Gertrude Ethel Dunn«/u»«/b» died in infancy. «u»«b»Oral D. Dunn«/u»«/b», the last surviving member of her generation, was born 26 Oct 1906. She married Leo Kelso in Central City. Oral took care of her mother, Jennie, for the last five years before she passed away in 1946. Oral and Leo had four children, Dorothy Jean Kelso Simpson Alveti Mapalo, Jerald R. Kelso, Shirley Lorraine Kelso Shireman, and Stanley Lee Kelso. Leo Kelso passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on 25 May 1951. Oral then moved to California and later married Rowland "Ron" Trager. Ron passed away 24 Apr1986 in Muritta, CA. Oral lives in Temecula, CA.
