Note:   (Research):
Speculation as to Father. The NC census has Joseph Atherly with 2 males in the house hold, one over 16 and one under 16. A wife and 4 females. 1 slave.

According to another family member I came across in research (Jan), Jesse's father was an Alfred and they came here through Virginia, This is along the lines of what my Aunt Mildred had told me.

Joseph's will has James Atherly as his administrator of his estate. Witnessed by James Atherly, Roger Jones, and Ephraim Fulshire. Also part of his estate was sold to James, Sally, Levy and Ruthy Atherly. I feel that Jesse could be in Tennessee and James had stayed with his Dad. No mention of a wife in the will.
