Text:   Mr. D. H. Johnson., Mr. David Henry Johnson died at Nambour on December 24. He was one of the pioneers of the Mapleton district, and was 79 years of age. Deceased was a native of Buckinghamshire. He left England in 1873 in the sailing ship Ramsay, and eventually took up a block of land in the Mapleton district. He is survived by nine children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, most of whom reside in the Mapleton district.

Text:   Mr. DAVID HENRY JOHNSON. The death occurred at the Ma-
 roochy District Hospital on December
 24 of Mr. David Henry Johnson, one
 of the pioneers of the Mapleton dis-
 trict, at the age of 79 years. De-
 ceased was a native of Buckingham
 shire, England. and a descendant of
 a long line of farmers, who for cen-
 turies occupied the same farm, which
 was worked by succeeding generations
 Leaving the Old Country in 1873, he
 voyaged to Queensland by the sailing
 vessel "Ramsay.'' On arrival he ob-
 tained work on the railway line then
 in construction between Brisbane and
 Ipswich. Eventually he took up a
 block of land in the Mapleton district
 for the purpose of fruit growing, and
 although much of the land has since
 been cut up. he retained a small area
 which he worked until recently, when
 sickness intervened. The deceased is
 survived by a family of two daughters.
