Notes
a. Note:   According to Larry Durham, grandson of George W. Carnes, a younger brother of Thomas A. Carnes, John Newton Carnes is buried in Beaver Dam Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Fair Play, Oconee County, SC. Larry indicates that his grave is unmarked, and the location within the cemetery is not certain, but family lore says he is buried in the line of Carnes graves starting with Thomas A. Carnes (his father), and is at the end of the row in in the presen t day woods line.
