Note: From Loyd Galey, 1993 From her Marriage Certificate: Matilda E. Brown age 21 on May 14, 1913 which gives her birth as 1892 On her death certificate, it has age: 49 years, 7 months, 12 days which puts it at 1895 and it has May 14 1895 but the '5' is smudged and may be a '3' 1900 Census from Newton Twp., Trumbull Co., Ohio James B. Her marriage certificate has Princeton, Pa. as her birth location. She was adopted at an early age to the Brown family. She remembers 2 original brothers, maybe one named Floyd. She had 2 brothers and 2 sisters in the Brown family. She did not keep in contact with the Brown family and distanced herself from them. Loyd Galey remembers a brother named Bill that came to visit and she would only talk to him outside on the porch and she would not invite him inside. She had bad memories of how she was treated there and would not talk about it. Info form the McClaren Clan has 14 May 1895 Ohio Deaths, 1908-1932, 1938-1944, and 1958-2007 about Matilda Galey Name: Matilda Galey Death Date: 26 Dec 1944 City of Death: Youngstown County of Death: Mahoning Her real name is Gettings. Her odoptive parents name was Brown. A very likely family that was her birth family is Hugh Gettings m. Matilda They were from Princeton Pa., and also had a daughter named Matilda b. 1875. It is very possible one of the daughters had a child either out of wedlock or could not care for it. The fact that both our Matilda and Hugh were from Princeton, Pa., a very small crossroads, and the fact the Hugh's family had a large number of Matilda's makes it likely they were the same family, however city directories from 1893, 1895, 1897, and 1899 have no mention of Eva. If she was born in 1892 and given up for adoption very early, this may explain it. In addition, Oscar Gettings (1890) is listed in the 1910 census with Matilda and Leander as a step-son. This has the probablity that Matilda had at least one child before she married Leander. DNA tests from ancestry.com has a match between the Loyd Galey family and the Hugh Gettig family. As of 2017, there have been 3 more matches to the Hugh Gettings family. 1870 Census from Pa.
