Note: Katie Knight was a young girl of 20 years of age when she met Edward Holland, a graduate of Harvard College. The Knight family did not approve of Mr. Holland, so the family sent Katie to Whitewater, Wisconsin to stay with the Knight relatives that lived there at the time. Mr. Holland followed Katie to Whitewater and they eventually got married in Girard at St. Rose Catholic Church. Edward Holland eventually converted to Catholicism. Edward died at the young age of 45 years in 1905. Edward left behind two sons, two daughters, and a widow to mourn his passing. Edward's father was a well respected builder in Baltimore, Maryland <s>and had been provided an education at Harvard University.</s> Obit: Mrs. Catherine Holland Girard- Mrs. Catherine Holland, 57, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emil Seidler, 138 E Main St. last evening at eight o'clock following a short illness. Mrs. Holland had lived in Girard for 54 years, having come here from Wisconsin, when she was three years old and lived in Girard since that time. She was preceded in death by her husband 23 years ago. She was a member of the St. Rose Church and the Order of A.O.H. Her death is mourned by a host of friends and relatives who held her in the greatest respect. Following are the survivors: A daughter, Mrs. Emil Seidler; three sons, J. P. Mylott and James Holland of Girard and John Holland of Warren, one sister, Mrs. Mike Cavanaugh, and two brothers, William and Thomas. Funeral will be held at nine a.m. Friday at St. Rose Church, Rev. Cohan officiating. Internment will be made at Calvary Cemetery.
