  The marriage of Salome Mory to Johann Heller Yost was announced in the 21 October 1840 issue of the German language newspaper "Der Friedens Bote".
  John's marriage to Miss Maria "Allum" was announced in the Thursday, 10 January 1850 edition of the "Independent Democrat" newspaper. At the time of their marriage they were both living in Bethlehem. The newspaper reported their date of marriage as 26 December 1849 but Rev. Jaeger's records show they were married on Christmas Day, 25 December..
  John Heller Yost was a carpenter. In 1841 he came to Bethlehem, PA, where he was first employed as a mechanic by John J. Levers. Later he worked for John Sigley and eventually succeeded Sigley in that business. He was an elder and trustee of Salem Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, and superintendent of the church edifice in 1883. Jackel, age 20, a carpenter; J. Hunter, age 19, a carpenter; J. Sterner, age 19, a carpenter; Hy. Fullmer, age 23, a mason; L. Schick, age 22, a mason; Jo. Shiel, b. in Germany, age 25, a mason; L. Rausch Kolp, b. in Germany, age 25, a laborer; J. Allum, age 28, a mason; and W. Allum, age 20, a mason. John Heller Yost owned real estate valued at $2,000.   In 1860 John H. Yost, age 44, a master carpenter, was living in Bethlehem Borough, Northampton Co., PA, with his second wife, Mary Yost, age 41, and six Yost children;

  In 1870 John H. Yost, age 52, a carpenter, was living in the Second Ward in Bethlehem in Northampton Co., PA, with his second wife, Mary Yost, age 51, and five children;
 - Elemina Yost, age 22 - Harrison Yost, age 17 - Franklin Yost, age 15 - Clarrisa Yost, age 11 - Mahida Yost, age 6 Also listed in his household were: Erwin Yost, age 19, a carpenter apprentice; Wilson Cope, age 19, also a carpenter apprentice; Samuel Houser, age 28, working in a rolling mill; Arevesta Plotz, age 14, a domestic servant; and Jeremiah Fenstermacher, age 17, a carpenter apprentice.   In 1880 John H. Yost, age 62, was living in the Second Ward in Bethlehem in Northampton Co., PA, with his second wife, Mary Yost, age 60. All of John's children had now left home and John and Mary were living alone. (1880 census, microfilm roll 1160, Family History Film: 1255160, Page 264D, house #169, family #219)
  In 1880 three of the children of John H. and Mary (nee Allam) Yost, were listed in a boarding house in the Second Ward in Bethlehem in Northampton Co., PA. The three children were: Harry Yost, age 28, a carpenter; Clara Yost, age 21, a clerk; and Mehida V. Yost, age 16, in public school. The landlord of the boarding house was Samuel Riegle, age 52.   John Heller Yost died at the residence of his son-in-law, Allen J. Sterner, in West Bethlehem. In addition to brothers and sisters, he left 8 children and 22 grandchildren.
