In 1850 John Morey, b. in PA, age 63, a farmer, was living in Lansing, Tompkins Co., NY, with his wife. Mary M. Morey, age 58, and two children:
- Mary Ann Morey, b. in PA, age 32 - Elizabeth Morey, b. in Tompkins Co., age 22 Also listed in their household was William Johnson, b. in PA, age 23, a farmer.

In 1860 John Morey, age 74, a farmer, was living in Lansing, Tompkins Co., NY, with his wife. Mary M. Morey, age 70. Both were born in PA. They were listed in the same house as their son, Peter Morey, and his wife and family. John's unmarried daughter, Mary M. Morey, b. in PA, age 23, was also listed in the same house. In 1870 John Morey (indexed as May), b. in PA, age 84, was living in Lansing, Tompkins Co., NY, in the household of his married daughter, Elizabeth (Morey) Perry, b. in NY, age 43, and her husband, Hiram B. Perry, b. in MA, age 41, and two children, both born in NY:
