Note: f Upper Mount Bethel Church show that Tobias, son of Jacob, was confirmed on Maundy Thursday in 1805. In 1850 Tobias Morey, age 61, a farmer, was living in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., PA, with his wife, Margarette Morey, age 57. Three of their children were still living at home: July Morey, age 20 (probably daughter Judah born in 1827); Reuben Morey, age 15; and Peter Morey, age 18, a laborer. Tobias owned real estate valued at $2,000. (1850 census, microfilm roll #803, Northampton Co., PA., Upper Mount Bethel Twp., pg. 466, house #166) In 1870 Tobias Morey, age 81, a retired farmer, and his wife, Margareth Morey, age 78, were living in the household of his niece, Caroline Kressler, age 35, and her husband, Henry Kressler, age 46, a farmer, and their son, Peter Kressler, age 12, in Upper Mount Bethel Twp. (1870 census, microfilm roll 1383, Northampton Co., PA., Upper Mount Bethel Twp., pg. 432, house #406) In 1880 Tobias Morey, age 91, a retired farmer, and his wife, Margaret Morey, age 88, were living in Johnsonville, Northampton Co., PA. They were living in the household of their married grand son, Joseph T. Yetter, age 38, a farmer, his wife, Carrolina (Eilenberger) Yetter, age 36, and three of their children: daughter Mary C. Yetter, age 15; son Luther P. Yetter, age 12; and son Peter F. Yetter, age 7. Also living in the same household were their married daughter, Sarah (listed as Sally) (Morey) Yetter, age 66, with her husband, George Yetter, age 68, a retired farmer. (1880 census, National Archives Film T9-1163, Page 366B, house #49) Tobias' obituary in 1881 reported that he had 52 grandchildren and 82 gr-grandchildren. ("Argus" newspaper) It was reported that seven of his children were still living in 1903. His age at death was given as 92 years, 9 months, and 26 days. Tobias died intestate. His widow, Margaret, signed a renunciation on 4 October 1881 turning over administration of his estate to their son, Jacob T. Morey. The inventory of Tobias' estate was filed 12 January 1882 and the final account on 15 December 1884. The estate was distributed in eleven equal shares to 1) Jacob T. Morey, 2) Sarah Yetter, 3) Elizabeth Uhler, 4) Margaret LaBar, 5) Daniel Morey, 6) John Morey, 7) Judah Brands, 8) Mary Ann Hodge, 9) Peter W. Morey, 10) Reuben Morey, and 11) the five children of Catharine Immick, deceased who were Adaline Houck, Sarah Frey, Susan Grube, Reuben Immick, and Joseph Immick. (Estate file #10428, Northampton County Government Center, Easton, PA) On 6 June 1882 Jacob T. Morey filed a petition in Northampton Co. orphans court requesting partition and/or evaluation of Tobias' land for distribution to the heirs. The petition stated that Tobias died intestate leaving a widow, Margaret, and children; Jacob T. Morey, John Morey, Daniel Morey, Peter W. Morey, and Reuben Morey sons and Sarah intermarried with George Yetter, Elizabeth intermarried with Frederick Uhler, Margaret intermarried with Labar, Juda intermarried with Jacob Brands, Mary Ann intermarried with John Hoddy, daughters and Adaline Hauck, Sarah Frey, Susan Grube, Reuben and Joseph Immick, children of his deceased daughter, Catharine, who intermarried with Aaron Immick, of whom Joseph Immick is a minor. The petition showed that, at his death, Tobias owned two tracts of land; one tract of 12 acres and 132 1/2 perches in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp. purchased from Robert Simonton by deed dated 19 February 1833 (Deed book A, Vol. 6, pg. 235.6) and a second tract of timberland of 5 acres and 25 perches in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp. purchased from the heirs of Daniel Weidman deceased by deed dated 1 April 1843 (Deed book C, Vol. 9, pg. 786). On 7 August 1882 it was reported that the tracts could not be parted or divided without decreasing their value and the land was appraised at $1418.12. On 9 October 1882 the heirs refused to accept the real estate at that value and the court granted permission to advertise the land for sale. On 4 December 1882 it was reported to orphans court that the first tract had been sold to Luther Keller and the second to John S. Weidman. (Orphans court book #30, pp. 75, 115, 169, 219, Northampton County Government Center, Easton, PA) (Genealogical Note: Previous material concerning the family of Tobias and Margaret (Weidman) Morey showed that they had two additional children to those already listed. They were daughters Susan and Angelina. No evidence has been found to support the existence of these two daughters. Neither were mentioned as heirs when Tobias's estate was settled in 1882 and 1884. Angelina was said to have married Adam Breininger of Forks Twp. Her tombstone in Forks Church cemetery shows she died in 1901 and therefore was living when the estate was settled. Also, a marriage notice in the "Argus" newspaper shows that Adam Breininger married Angelina "Uhler", not Morey, on 26 January 1861. An extract of the obituary of Elizabeth (Morey) Uhler, daughter of Tobias Morey, found in the extracts of newspaper marriages and deaths, 1885-1902, on file in the Marx Room of the Easton Public Library, Easton, PA., shows that Elizabeth was survived by sisters; "Mrs. Angelina Breidinger and Mrs. Jeremiah Jones of Forks Twp., and Mrs. Joseph Dietrich of Upper Nazareth". This has been found to be in error. All three of these women were actually daughters of Henry and Hannah Uhler of Forks Twp. and were sisters to Elisabeth's husband, Frederick Uhler. Angelina (Uhler) Breidinger, wife of Adam Breidinger, was born 2 September 1827, baptized Forks Church 2 December 1827. Elizabeth (Uhler) Jones, wife of Jeremiah Jones, was born 9 October 1822, baptized Forks Church 23 November 1822. Hannah (Uhler) Dietrich, wife of Joseph Dietrich, was born 23 September 1829, baptized Forks Church 27 December 1829.) (Other sources: 1. Subtraction of that age from his date of death yealds a birthdate of 29 November 1788. However, his memorial on Findagrave shows he was born on 31 December 1788.)
