Note: The sponsors at Margaret's baptism were her parents. In 1850 Margaret (Morey) LaBar, age 33, was living with her husband, Samuel LaBar, age 35 a farmer, and their son Reuben LaBar age 8 and daughter Malinda LaBar age 6 in Upper Mount Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., PA. A Sarah Schirrel, age 12, was also listed in their household. Their farm was valued at $4,000. (1850 census, microfilm roll #803, Northampton Co., PA., Upper Mount Bethel Twp., pg. 463, house #130) In 1870 Margaret (Morey) LaBar and her husband, Samuel LaBar, age 51 a farmer, were still living in Upper Mount Bethel Twp. with one daughter, Sarah A. LaBar age 18. They owned real estate valued at $9,700 and personal property of $1,000. A Peter Miller was also listed in their household. (1870 census, microfilm roll 1383, Northampton Co., PA., Upper Mount Bethel Twp., pg. 433, house #417) In 1880 Margaret (Morey) LaBar, age 63, and her husband, Samuel LaBar, age 67 a farmer, were still living in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp. They were living next door to their son, Reuben LaBar and his family. (1880 census, National Archives Film T9-1163, Page 368A, house #83) In 1890 Margaret (Morey) LaBar, now a widow, was still living in Upper Mt. Bethel Twp. (1890 Census Directory of Northampton Co., Upper Mt. Bethel) On 4 January 1902 Margaret wrote her will. She directed that she was to be buried in Centreville Cemetery and bequeathed one share of stock in the First National Bank of Bangor to the Reformed Congregation for care of the LaBar family plot. She bequeathed the remainder of her estate to son, Reuben H. LaBar, and daughters Malinda and Sarah. She appointed son Reuben the executor. The witnesses were Malinda Reimer, A. M. Paff, and Catharine A. LaBar. Reuben died in August of 1902, two years before his mother, and the executors were Oliver LaBar and Jacob D. Reimer. Her will was proved 31 May 1904. (Estate file #16459, will book 15, pg. 395, Northampton County Government Center, Easton, PA) The date of birth inscribed on Margaret's tombstone in the Reformed Cemetery is 27 November 1817 but the church record of her baptism shows she was born 18 November 1817. (Note: At least one prior report of this family showed that Margaret married a Jeremiah Jones. However, no evidence has been found to substantiate that she was ever married to Jeremiah Jones, either prior to, or after, her marriage to Samuel LaBar. Estate records show that she died as Margaret LaBar. Also, the wife of Jeremiah Jones was found to be Elizabeth Uhler, a daughter of Henrich and Hannah Uhler. Jeremiah Jones (3 Mar 1821 - 7 May 1888) and his wife, Elizabeth (Uhler) Jones (9 Oct 1822 - 25 Jan 1905), are both buried in Forks Church cemetery near Tatamy in Forks Twp., Northampton Co., PA.)
