Note: The sponsors at Peter W. Morey's baptism were his parents. "P. W. Mory, farmer, P. O. Rummerfield Creek, was born 26 October 1832 in Northampton County, Pa., son of Tobias and Margaret (Weidman) Morey, natives of Pa. who were of Scotch and German ancestry. He was married 9 April 1856 to Emma, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Loehr of Michigan, who were of German extraction. She was the third in a family of 4 children, all of whom are living. This union has been blessed with 6 children. Mr. Morey was raised on his father's farm, came to this county in April, 1871 and purchased a part of the old Laporte farm in Asylum Twp. on the Frenchtown flats and owns over 200 acres of as fine land as there is in the State. He is a very successful and prosperous farmer, combining the growing of tobacco and stock-raising with that of general agriculture. He is a member of the F. and A.M., #311, Mount Bethel Lodge, and is a Democrat in politics. The family are members of the Lutheran Church. The newspaper showed their date of marriage to be 11 April 1857 versus the above article from "History of Bradford Co." which gave the date as 9 April 1856. In 1860 Peter W. Morey, age 27, a master carpenter, was living in Upper Mount Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., PA, with his wife, Emma Morey, age 23, and two children: - Sarah A. Morey, age 2 - Eugene Morey, age 8 months Everyone in the household was born in PA. (1860 census, microfilm roll M653_1148, Page 1058, house #142, family #143) In 1870, one year before his move to Bradford County, Peter Morey, age 36, was a lumber merchant in Upper Mount Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., PA, with real estate valued at $3,000. He was living with his wife, Emma Morey, age 33, and five Morey children; - Sarah A., age 13 - Eugene, age 10 - Joseph L., age 7 - Ida, age 5 - Maggie, age 3 months (1870 census, microfilm roll #1383, Northampton Co., PA., Upper Mount Bethel Twp., pg. 419, house #189) In 1880 Peter W. Morey, age 48 a farmer and slater, was living in Asylum, Bradford Co., PA, with his wife, Emma Morey, age 43, and six of their children; - daughter Anna Morey, age 22 - son Eugene Morey, age 19 - son Joseph Morey, age 17 - daughter Ida Morey, age 15 - daughter Maggie Morey, age 10 - daughter Augusta Morey, age 7 (1880 census, National Archives Film T9-1104, Page 36D) In 1900 Peter W. Morey, b. Oct 1832, age 67, a widower, a farmer, was living in Asylum, Bradford Co., PA, with two of his children: - Sarah Ann Morey, b. Jul 1857, age 42 - son Eugene Morey, b. Morey died at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 22 days. His date of death, age and burial location appear in the records of St. John's Lutheran Church, Stroudsburg, Monroe Co., PA. The year of death on Peter Weidman Morey's tombstone in Frenchtown Cemetery, Bradford Co., PA, is 1901. )
