  On 6 January 1873 Samuel wrote his last will. He bequeathed $200 and all the household goods and furniture to his wife Margaret (or Peggy). He gave his son, Reuben H. Labar, the family farm of 107 acres in Upper Mount Bethel Twp. He directed that the remaining estate was to be invested with interest paid annually to his wife Margaret. After her death the estate was to be given to his three children; Reuben H. Labar, Melinda intermarried with Jacob D. Reimer, and Sarah V. Emery wife of John Emery. He appointed his son, Reuben H., executor. Samuel's will was proved 8 January 1883. (Estate file #10783, will book 10, pg. 131, Northampton County Government Center, Easton, PA)
