In the first federal census of 1790, Gotthardt was living in Upper Saucon Twp., Northampton Co., PA. He was listed as "Gedhart Morey". Living in his household were one male over the age of 16 years, three males under the age of 16, and four females.

He left a will, written 28 January 1835, leaving most of his estate to ten of his children. He gave a "messuage, tenement, and two tracts of land being all and the same which I have purchased of George A. Kline" to the executors of his estate to hold in trust for his daughter Hannah as part of her legacy. The will also states that he had already given his sons; William, Joseph and Solomon, "their full share in the sale of the land which they have bought of me". He appointed his sons, Jacob and Joseph Mory, the executors. The will was witnessed by Jacob Mory and Peter Cooper and was probated in 1843.
