Note: t the time of their marriage in 1839, they were both living in Upper Saucon Twp. Their marriage was announced in the 30 October edition of the german language newspaper "Unabhaengiger Republikaner" of Allentown, PA. The announcement only said that they were married "recently". In 1850 Solomon Mory, age 51, was a farmer and was living in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co.,PA, with his second wife, Maria Mory age 47, and seven Mory children; Abner age 25, Angelina age 23, Levina age 15, Sarah age 9, Eliza age 17, James age 11 and Jacob age 6. Solomon's real estate was valued at $4600. (1850 census, microfilm roll #792, Lehigh Co., PA, Upper Saucon Twp., pg. 200B, house #133) In addition to his holdings in Upper Saucon, Solomon owned land in Milford Twp. in Bucks Co., PA. In 1868 he and his wife, Mary, sold a one acre and six perches tract of this land for $155.62 1/2 to trustees of the Menonist Church who worshipped at the Swamp Meeting House in Milford Twp. Solomon had originally purchased this tract in Milford Twp. on 5 April 1861 from Henry D. and Hannah Moyer. (Bucks County deed books 144, pp. 403-406 and 115, pg. 300) In 1870 Solomon Mory, age 72 a farmer, was still living in Upper Saucon Twp. with his second wife, Mary Mory age 67, and two of his children; James Mory age 32 and Eliza Mory age 35. Also listed in their household were two Engleman children; Martha age 14, and Walter M. age 12, who were probably children of Solomon's deceased daughter, Angelina, who had been married to John Engleman, who was also deceased by 1870. Others in the household were Wilson Mory, age 17, Solomon's grandson (son of Abner and Elemina Mory) and Alfred Richard, age 15, a servant. (1870 census, microfilm roll #1363, Lehigh Co., PA, Upper Saucon Twp., pg. 621, house #170) In 1880 Solomon Mory, age 81 a farmer, was still living in Upper Saucon Twp. with his second wife, Mary Mory age 76, and two unmarried children; Eliza Mory age 48 and James Mory age 41 a farm laborer. Also listed in his household were a granddaughter, Angelina Engelman age 20 and Henry Fenstermacher age 20, a farm laborer. (1880 census, National Archives Film T9-1147, Page 284B, house #11) Solomon left a will which mentions his daughter, Eliza, and that he had seven surviving children, but the will did not give their names. The administrator of his estate was his daughter by first marriage, Eliza Mory. (Estate file #6044, Lehigh County Courthouse, Allentown, PA)
