At the time of their marriage in 1857, Joseph was living in Lower Saucon Twp. in Northampton Co., PA. Several years later Joseph served in the Civil War as a Private in the 176th Regiment, Co. E, PA Volunteers. In 1870 Joseph Mory, age 46 a carpenter, was living in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co., PA with his wife, Matilda Mory age 35, and one daughter: - Amelia Mory, age 13 Also listed in their household was an apprentice carpenter, James Rice (Reiss), age 19. Joseph owned real estate valued at $2500 and had personal property of $250. (1880 census, National Archives Film T9-1147, Page 305C, house #340) In 1900 Joseph W. Mory (listed as Mohry), b. Aug 1824, age 75, a gentleman, was living in Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co., PA, with his wife, Matelda Mory, b. Mar 1838, age 62. Joseph and Matelda had been married for 43 years. Matelda was the mother of 1 child, who was living in 1900. Also listed in their household were their daughter, Amelia (Mory) Laux, b. Mar 1858, age 42, a widow, a dress maker, with her son: - Ellwood Laux, b. Dec 1877, age 22, a house painter Everyone in the household was born in PA.
