a. Note:   ember 1803 Philip purchased two tracts of adjoining land of 106 acres and 130 perches from the late Daniel Buchman and his wife, Barbara in Lehigh Twp. (Deed book C-3, pgs. 29-30, Recorder of Deeds Office, Northampton County Government Center, Easton, PA) The land was part of a larger tract which had been granted to Conrad Sylvius by indenture dated 10 January 1792 and then sold to Daniel Buchman by indenture dated 20 April 1796. In 1810 Philip Gerber was listed in Lehigh Twp., Northampton Co., PA.
  The name on Philip's tombstone in St. Paul's (Indianland) Church cemetery is "Garber".
  Philip's estate was administered by his wife Susanna, brother John Wint, and brother-in-law Peter Strauss. On 19 February 1817 they posted a bond of $6,000. The estate papers show he owned a "plantation" of about 100 acres, had an indentured servant named Sally Daniel, and had considerable wealth and material possessions. 30 people owed him money indicating he may have been in business in addition to farming. His estate was inventoried by George Kuntz and Abraham Leinberger and filed 31 March 1817. Final settlement of the estate was filed 27 May 1818 by widow, Susanna Gerber.
