Maria Barbara Knepply was a daughter of Melgior Kneple (aka. Melchoir Knepply) and his wife, Catharina Kepner. Melchoir was born in August 1723 in the Palatinate and died in July of 1805. His wife, Catharina, was born 10 December 1733 and died 18 October 1812. They are both buried in the old graveyard at Friedens Church at Friedensville in Upper Saucon Twp.
The church baptismal record of Maria Barbara Knepply showed her date of birth to be 2 April 1759. However, the date of birth inscribed on her tombstone is 10 March or 27 March 1759.
Maria Barbara wrote a will on 1 October 1841 in which she gave her estate to Elizabeth Koch; Catharina, wife of Jacob Ueberroth; her sister Margaret, wife of George ? (couldn't read); her sister Hanna, wife of William Kern; her sister Dorothea Bittenbender; and her friend, Jacob Ueberroth. The will was filed on 14 March 1843.
