An article on pages 357 and 358 of "The Palatine Families of New York" by Henry F. Jones Jr. shows that Anna Engel Hebmann was one of four daughters of Michael (aka. Melchior) Hebmann of the Graafschap Hardenburg. Williger (Michael or Melchior) Hepmann (Hebmann), his wife, and children Haningel (Anna Engel), Maria Gertraud, and one (additional) child, were in the 2nd party of Palatines in
Holland in 1709 (Rotterdam lists). Melchior Hepman aged 53, his wife, and daughters aged 17, 12 and 8, Luth., husbandman and vinedresser, were in the 2nd arrivals in England later that year (London lists). Michael Hebmann first appeared on the Subsistence Lists of Governor Hunter of New York (the Hunter Rolls) on 4 August 1710 with four persons over 10 years of age and two persons under 10 years. On 4 October 1710 the notation on the Hunter Rolls read six persons over 10 years. The list of Palatines in New York City in 1710/1711 included Catharine Hebmannin, aged 40 - a widow, Anna Engel Hebmannin aged 21A (sic.), Gertrude Hebmannin aged 14, and Anna Magdalena Hebmannin aged 11.

Melchior (Michael) Hebmann was first married to a woman named Anna Barbara. They had a daughter, Maria Charlotta, baptized at Hartenburg on 6 January 1681. By 1689 Melchior had remarried a Maria Catharina, by whom he had three daughters; Anna Engel born in 1689, Gertrude born in 1696, and Anna Magdalena born in 1699. (Source: LDS German IGI, pp. 223, 346) Maria Catharina's name appears on the Palatinate list in 1710.
After Melchior Hebmann died, his widow, Maria Catherina Vogelezang, married Joh Coens (Johannes Kuntz) on 23 January 1711. He was a fellow traveler since Rotterdam. Their names appear with four children at Neu-Ansberg ca 1716/17. Her name appears on the Mohawk 30 April 1725 and at Schoharie in 1744.
