In 1850 William Ziegler, age 12, was living with his mother, Hannah Ziegler, age 55, in the household of his brother, Solomon Ziegler, and his family in Upper Saucon Twp, Lehigh Co., PA. (1850 census, microfilm roll #792, pg. 204B, house #191)
In 1870 William Ziegler, age 34, a day laborer, was living in Salisbury Twp., Lehigh Co., PA, with his wife, Caroline Ziegler, age 33, and two children:
- Avilda Ziegler, age 8 - Eugene Ziegler, age 5 They were listed in the household of Solomon Reinbold, age 60, also a day laborer. Also listed in the same household were James Ziegler (William's nephew, son of Solomon and Mary Ann Ziegler), age 23, a day laborer, and his wife, Eliza Ziegler, age 18. In 1880 William Ziegler (listed as Ziller), age 44, a widower, a mine contractor, was living in Center Valley, Lehigh Co., PA, with four of his children:
- daughter Alwilda Zeigler, age 18 - son Eugene Ziegler, age 15, a mine laborer - son Harrison Ziegler, age 7 - daughter Estella Ziegler, age 3 Everyone in the household was born in PA. (1880 census, microfilm roll 1147, pg. 411B, house #303, family #361)
