  In 1850 Paul was listed as a laborer. In 1880 he was a farmer.
  Biographical Sketches from: History and Genealogy of the Knauss Family in America, compiled and arranged by: James Oewn Knauss, Family Historian and Tilghman John Knauss, Family Genealogist, pub. 1915: J. Paul Knauss was also brought up as a farmer and worked on the farm the last day of his life. He died suddenly of apoplexy, and is buried at Emaus (sic).
