a. Note:   In 1868 Jacob Mory was living in Boyertown in Berks Co., PA. In 1880 Jacob Mory, age 55 a farmer, was living at Colebrookdale in Berks Co., PA, with his wife, Amelia Mory age 47, and four of their children; daughter Mary Mory age 25 and working for a tailor, daughter Annie Mory age 19, daughter Kate Mory age 14, and son Horace Mory age 12. Also listed in their household was Emma Prutzman age 22 a dress maker. (1880 census, National Archives Film T9-1099, Page 147B)
  In 1842, at the age of 16, Jacob learned the milling trade in South Allentown, PA. He worked at the same business in Limeport, south of Allentown, in 1848. Jacob and his brother, Aaron, then bought a grist mill and saw mill at what is now Morysville, near Boyertown, PA. The village of Morysville was named after the Mory family. The business later became J & A Milling Co. It continued in operation until 1864 when Jacob moved to Reading, PA, where he opened up a hardware store. In 1889 he sold the hardware store and went into the china and glass business. Jacob died in Reading, PA, at 945 Elm Street.
