  FORMER RESIDENT DIES.
 Mrs. Francis F. Atwell, Sister of Mrs. Henry Webb Passes Away in Kansas.
  Word has been received in the city of the death of Mrs. Francis F. Atwell, formerly of this city, which occurred recently at her home in Rice County, Kansas. She was a sister of Mrs. Henry Webb, 202 North Webster Street and will be well remembered by many of the older residents of Ottumwa.
  A Rice county paper contains the following notice:
 Francis F. Atwell was born in Ramsgate, England, January 15, 1847, died August 28, 1908, aged 61 years, 7 months and 13 days. She emigrated to America with her parents in 1857 and lived a short time in Pennsylvania, when the moved to Iowa. On May 12, 1866 she was united in marriage to William E. Hoover in Wapello County, Iowa. To this union was born two sons and two daughters, one daughter dying in infancy. In March, 1875 they moved to Rice County, Kansas and settled on the homestead where they have continuously lived until the time of her death.
  She leaves behind to mourn for her, two sons, one daughter, four brothers, and five sisters. On March 19, 1883, she was baptised by Elder Pickerill and united with the Chruch of Christ at Pleasant Valley, and lived the remainder of her life to devotion to her Saviour. Near the close of her life, when told that she had but a short time to live, her reply was, "If it is the Lord's will I am ready."
  Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday, at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Harris, pastor of the Christian church at Lyons, and the remains were laid to rest in the Alden Valley Cemetery.
