Edward could be father of James. 1800 - Burke Co., NC census pg 777 has a James Melone with 3 sons 10 yrs and younger. 1800 - Burke County census James Melone: 30010-00010-00 [only man of this name on this census]. 1800 - State land grant #3151 to James Maloney. 1800 - State land grants #3199 & 3200 to John Maloney. 1800 - May also have had a son James born in Burke Co., NC. 1803 - Apr - Deed from James Melony to Shepheard Bowman for 100 A., dated 28 Jan 1803, proved by Groves Bowman. Swink]. 1805 - no Maloney, by any spelling, on Burke County tax list. 1810 - Burke County census - only James Maloney (p. 341) (31010-20010-00). 1810 - Also, there is a James Maloney in Burke Co., NC 1810 census pg 42, living near Ben Adkins and Nancy Brackett. This James is also in 1820 Burke Co., NC census pg 107. 1812 - James on tax list for Franklin Co., TN. 1815 - Burke County tax list of Martin Kibler's Company [present Burke County]: James Maloney, 300 A. on waters of Silver Creek; $200 value; 1 white poll [Source: Burke County Genealogical Society Journal, September 1988]. 1820 - Burke County census - only James Meloney (p. 107): 011301-01101. 1820 - Henderson Co., KY census shows a John Maloney living near Burrell Brackett. May be John Maloney (b. 1770) who married Susanah Crawford and moved to Estill Co KY. 1830 - Burke County census - only James Maloney (p. 145): 000101-010001 [Note: this is a much younger James that the one in 1820; this one is age 30-40; the one in 1820 is over 45.] No date - Capt.
