 Widow's Pension, Certificate No. WC 21636, using the website of "Footnote.com." for Ann Daugherty Rees. It states that Joseph Daugherty died on February 6, 1863 at a hospital near Vicksburg, Mississipi from "Measels" and "Ensiphelas".

  Eliza Ellen Daugherty died October 4, 1863. The pension records are 90 pages in length.

 Information for Pvt. Joseph Daugherty from the National Cemetery in Vicksburg:
  "The Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion does list him as a member of Company D, and not B as inscribed on his headstone.
  He was 30 years of age at the time of his enlistment at Camp Circleville (Circleville, Ohio), on August 19, 1862, and he enlisted for a period of three years.
  The regiment saw action at Chickasaw Bayou in December 1862, and at Arkansas Post in January 1863, prior to his death on February 7 at Young's Point, Louisiana. According to the ledgers of Vicksburg National Cemetery, his original place of burial was along Willow Bayou on the Ballard plantation, which was situated near Young's Point. His was the 322d interment in the national cemetery at Vicksburg."
